What Will I Write?

As we prepare for our journey as notebookers, one question I get asked over and over again is, "What can I write?" The short answer is anything you want to write, but I know that's not helpful to many notebookers. I am not a fan of writing prompts, but I understand how some writers depend upon having something to prompt them to begin.

Here's my solution: I will share writing invitations each Sunday. There will be ideas and resources for you to use if you need something to jump start your writing that week. Refer to them as you like or completely ignore them if you already know what you'll be writing. I will also share my notebook page each morning to use as an idea or an inspiration.

Since we begin in two days, I'll share some ideas today...

Notebook page ideas:
* Write about this challenge. How are you feeling? Why are participating? How will you write for 100 days? Writing at the beginning of a challenge about what the challenge is always good because you can look back throughout the days and when the hundred days are over.

* What's your OLW (One Little Word)? I don't make resolutions for the new year, instead I pick a word each year to guide me and help me focus on where I want my year to go. Pick a word. Write about it.

* Reflect on the past year. What was the best thing about 2019? What was your biggest challenge? What will you bring with you into 2020? What will you leave behind?

* Think about this quote by the brilliant Jane Yolen: “Exercise the writing muscle every day, even if it is only a letter, notes, a title list, a character sketch, a journal entry. Writers are like dancers, like athletes. Without that exercise, the muscles seize up.” Write about it. Agree? Disagree? Why? What's your opinion about this? What's your experience been with writing?

One reminder I have for you is this: notebook writing is first draft writing. It's often messy and unorganized and that's ok, in fact it's beautiful. Your goal is not perfection. Shoot for showing up to the page and writing every day. Remind yourself of this every day!

You have enough ideas for the first week of notebooking! Get your notebook ready...2020 is approaching quickly.

I enjoy writing. I always have. I write a diary- of feelings, and perhaps poems. Recordings of a Days happenings. People I meet, places I go. Laughter I have shared. Perhaps even a Record of Pain;- My own, of which there is quite a lot. the People I care for- My Family! I write a Good Morning Greeting, each Day on FB.... Most of these are Pretty Humorous- though not all the time!

Thanks for this challenge. I started yesterday and am already beginning to feel those creaky writing muscles limber up just the slightest bit.
