Invitations to Write

Congratulations on making it to day five! It's Sunday, so I'm going to share some invitations to write. If you can't think of an idea...here are seven for the upcoming week. Use them all or use none of them. Change the idea to make it work for you. That's the beauty of notebooking...YOU are the boss of your notebook. Happy #100DaysofNotebooking!

* Make a list. Lists are a great way to create an entry for a notebook page. One of my favorite lists to make is an “I Believe…” list. Start every line with those words and see what happens.

* Write a letter...to someone, to something. What do you want to say?

* Find inspiration everywhere. Look around...an Instagram post, the coffee mug in your hand, the noise in your home. What’s going on around you? Write about that. Use lots of details. Take a minute and reread what you wrote and now how do you feel about that?

* I love quotes. I’ll share a quote each week to trigger some writing. Here’s this week’s quote by the brilliant Anne Lamott from her book, Bird by Bird. “Perfectionism is the voice of the oppressor, the enemy of the people. It will keep you cramped and insane your whole life, and it is the main obstacle between you and a shitty first draft.”

* Poetry is a wonderful way to create an entry. How do you feel about poetry? Why? What’s your history and experience with poetry? Start with that today. Most people tend to have a love/hate relationship with poetry. What’s yours? Think about the WHY behind that emotion.

*20 in 20. This past week I’ve seen lots of pages with this list. I’ve started it and it’s not as easy as it looks. What 20 things do you want to accomplish in 2020?

* Writing BINGO- Glenda Cowen-Funk shared a BINGO card she created on the page. I found it so creative. She was inspired by a former student, Abbi McConnell, who is also part of our community.

Love this list of inspiration. I just commented on a notebookers post with an Anne Lamott quote! How serendipitous. Thank you again for bringing us all together, Michelle. This is a powerful group with amazing ideas.

This is so helpful! I'm going to bookmark this post and use one of your suggestions each day this week.

Michelle, thanks so much for these ideas and for promoting bingo! ❤️ that you credited Abbi here, too.
